One of the main goals of FIC.UBA is to inspire emerging generations of filmmakers, who with their creativity transform not only the way we understand cinema but also the world. Supporting these new filmmakers is not just a gesture, but a deliberate investment in the future of cinema born out of our University.

For the 2024 edition, and thanks to partnerships with the Málaga Film Festival (MAFIZ) and the Bogotá International Film Festival (BIFF), FIC.UBA will grant the winners of the UBA Short Film Competition special opportunities for new talents in Spain and Colombia.

The Best Short Film of the Competition will receive, in addition to a $1,500,000 prize from UBA, a place in the MÁLAGA TALENT Campus Training Programme at the MAFIZ industry market. This program aims to help new generations build collaboration networks with professionals from around the world.

Additionally, through its partnership with BIFF, the Festival will present the Best Director Award, which includes a trip to Colombia to participate in the BIFF BANG! young talent program at the 2025 edition. BIFF will also screen a selection of outstanding short films from the UBA Short Film Competition in the previous edition of FIC.UBA. This year, 5' de lucidez, directed by Maitena Fontanazza and winner of the Best Short Film Award, and Donde terminan las cosas, by Andrea Odreman, Homero Luccerini, and Lara Olmos, another finalist in the Competition, will have their international premieres at BIFF BANG!

Furthermore, the UBA Staff Association (APUBA) will award the winning short film an additional $1,500,000 to finance the direction of an audiovisual project to be developed in the first semester of 2025. This project will be linked to the institutional activities of the association and will receive support from the Audiovisual Department of APUBA’s Secretariat of Culture and Training.
