Special Screening of «La Mary» by Daniel Tinayre

In a restored version and as part of the tribute to the career of the remembered Argentine filmmaker, La Mary (1974), his last and most remembered film, will be screened today at 7 p.m., in Sala 1 of the Gaumont Cinema, with free admission.

Before the screening and for the first time in a movie theater, Tinayre's historic interview with director and screenwriter Oscar Barney Finn can be seen, where he talks about his life, his work and his work ethic behind the camera.

The film, with Susana Giménez and Carlos Monzón as the protagonist couple, narrates the life of Mary, a humble neighborhood girl who, thanks to a prediction, prevents her father from losing his life in a tram accident, for which she earns the reputation that he can predict the future. Mary grows up as a happy, but very chaste girl. One afternoon, on the bus, he meets a boy named Cholo. At that moment the young woman, thanks to her gift, announces that he will be the man she will marry in the future.

La Mary is not the only film that is part of the FIC.UBA tribute to one of the key filmmakers to understand the industrial period of Argentine cinema. During the second edition of the Festival, the feature films La patota and Bajo un mismo rostro by Daniel Tinayre will also be screened.
