The special screening of La Patagonia rebelde, which will take place on Thursday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m., in Sala 1 of Cine Gaumont, will feature the presence of Olivera; Luis Alberto Scalella, President of the Argentina Sono Film production company; and Luis Brandoni, who will also receive the FIC.UBA Lifetime Achievement Award during the screening.

Few have contributed as much to Argentine cinema as Olivera. Over five decades, he promoted the careers of many significant filmmakers and, together with Fernando Ayala, founded one of the most iconic production companies in Argentine history, Aries Cinematográfica Argentina, which has produced more than 100 feature films.

Olivera was born in Olivos, Buenos Aires province, on April 5, 1931. Over his career as a director he made 23 feature films, including Rebellion in Patagonia, Funny Dirty Little War (1984), both of which earned him the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, Grandma (1979), and Night of the Pencils (1986). He has also received numerous accolades, including the Silver Condor Award, the Konex Award - Merit Diploma for his career and recognition as an Outstanding Cultural Personality of the City of Buenos Aires.

In addition to La Patagonia rebelde, his feature films El caso María Soledad (1993), El mural (2010) and Night of the Pencils will be screened during the FIC.UBA.
