Legerin, en busca de Alina
Legerin, in Search of Alina
International Feature Film Competition
Alina Sánchez, known as Lêgerîn, was an international doctor, anthropologist, active participant in the Kurdistan Women's Liberation Movement, researcher specializing in the relationship between medicine and ancestral knowledge, and coordinator of health care systems in the Middle Eastern wars. She was also a friend and companion. With respect as the documentary’s guiding thread, María Laura Vásquez reconstructs each of these multiple facets of the doctor from Córdoba, who died in early 2018 in Syria. Moreover, the filmmaker appropriates her story to honour women who, as she points out, "have been called to action in solidarity with their peoples and with other peoples of the world."
